This mixed-media portrait of Kim Jackson transforms discarded, repurposed materials into a striking image of the Georgia politician. 
The portrait is part of my “First, Not Last” series, which celebrates people who have broken political barriers and expanded representation in government. Jackson made history as Georgia’s first openly LGBTQ+ state senator. I used trash to reflect the value in what society otherwise throws away.
