In 2024, Ms. McBride was the first transgender person elected to the US congress. 
 
I used trash to make this work to represents the lifting up of transgender people from being considered worthless to something worthwhile and beautiful. I used the kitchen door to signify how Ms. McBride is opening the door for others like her to follow.
