Per PEN America, over 350 words and phrases are being removed from government websites and documents. The Trump administration is removing references to topics such as diversity, equity, climate change, and vaccines from government websites and documents. The mention of these words in research grants and other agreements has resulted in programs and projects being nixed.
 
I made this piece in response to the president’s executive orders. The curtain-like format evokes both the smoke screen of cleaning up website language and the barrier that removing these words creates for the public in finding accurate information on the government website.
