George Ervin "Sonny" Perdue III is a veterinarian, businessman, and politician. For eight years, he had been Georgia's governor. He was a Democrat until 1998, when he switched party affiliations to Republican.
As secretary of agriculture, Perdue changed the nutrition standards for school lunches to allow more refined grains, milk with added sugar, and meals with increased sodium.
His department buried studies about the negative impacts of climate change: more than 45 studies related to climate change conducted since the beginning of 45's administration did not receive any publicity.
